Specialist Conference announced for health workers in homelessness
The London Network of Nurses and Midwives Homelessness Group has announced the fifth annual conference aimed at health workers in the homelessness sector.
Sponsored by the London Housing Foundation and co-produced with Groundswell, the conference will look at how everyone in the sector needs to work to minimise the chances of vulnerable people being discharged to sleep rough.
Corinne Clarkson, Specialist Midwife for Migrant Women at Kings College Hospital and Chair of the Network said “We all know what a fantastic job staff are doing across London in trying to help homeless and vulnerable people get the care they need. But money is tight and the system remains overwhelmed with need. If we’re honest, we know that people can get missed. We still hear about people discharged from hospital, clinics and hostels without anywhere to go. This unique gathering of health and homelessness professionals will look at ways we can stop discharging people to the streets.”
The conference takes place on Friday 12th October 2018 and will provide plenty of opportunities for homeless healthcare professionals and allied workers to network and share good practice; but also to join together in order to voice and debate their collective concerns.

There will also be an expert panel discussion, breakout workshops, a poster competition, quiz, the Ab Fab awards and an exhibition. The Choir with No Name have also confirmed that they will be performing.
