Three projects from across London have been named as winners of the prestigious London Homelessness Awards for 2019. They will share cash prizes totalling £60,000.

The London Homelessness Awards are sponsored by the London Housing Foundation, London Housing Directors, The Mayor of London, Crisis and Shelter. We received 30 applications for the awards and after visiting six shortlisted projects, the judges chose three as prizewinners and three as specially commended.

They prize winners are (in alphabetical order):

  • The Magpie Project
  • The North London Early Homelessness Prevention Service
  • The Passage Anti-Slavery Project

Three further projects were particularly commended as making a special contribution to helping combat homelessness in London.

  • Haringey Rough Sleeping Task Force
  • King’s Health Partners Pathway Homelessness Team at South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust
  • SHP Sports and Health Project

The allocation of the prize money (first prize, £30000, second, £20000 and third £10000), will be revealed at a special event at City Hall on 17th October, by James Murray, Deputy Mayor.

Simon Dow chaired the judging panel for the London Homelessness Awards. He said: “All six projects would have been worthy winners. The three prize winners and the commended projects are a great mix of voluntary and statutory organisations all providing high quality services to a wide range of clients. Together they showcase just how vibrant and innovative the homelessness sector in London continues to be.”
