Positive Response to London Homelessness Awards

Thirty organisations from across London have applied to the prestigious London Homelessness Awards 2019. The three winners of the award will be announced in October and receive £30000, £20000 and £10000.

Projects from faith based groups, large established providers and smaller voluntary groups have submitted applications, showing innovative ideas and ambition for their clients.

Simon Dow is the Executive Chairman of the London Housing Foundation who sponsor the awards. He said: “The awards have been running now for over 20 years and the fact that we still get such a large amount of entries shows just how vibrant and positive the sector is. Our expert assessors and judges will now review the applications and arrange visits to shortlisted projects before announcing the winners at a very special event at the GLA in October.”

Last year’s winner, who received £30000, was Beam, who crowd fund to fund homeless and ex homeless people through training. Their Chief Executive Alex Stephany said: “Winning the LHAs was an incredible vote of confidence in our team and model. If you’re doing work that you think matters, get an application into the LHAs. It’s an amazing ceremony and an amazing prize. But above all there are so many brilliant people and organisations you will meet as we did as part of the application process.”
