Social enterprise Beam is helping London’s homeless to get essential items during the Coronavirus crisis through crowdfunding.

The crowdfunding platform, which works with charities and local authorities to provide job training and support for homeless people, has set up an Emergency Coronavirus Fund so that homeless people can get nappies, food and other emergency items during the pandemic.

Those who donate to Beam’s Emergency Coronavirus Fund get a budget breakdown of what their money is funding. They can also read the story of the person who needs their support, and leave a message of support to encourage those in need.

Alex Stephany, Founder and CEO of Beam, said: ‘Coronavirus has made homeless people even more vulnerable.

‘But the good news is that we’ve already seen how much people want to help, with local community groups providing a real lifeline during this difficult time.

Beam’s Emergency Coronavirus Fund aims to bring members of the public and homeless people closer, so that we can get through this together.

‘We’re excited to work with lots more homeless charities and local authorities up and down the country to support as many homeless people as possible during this time of need.’
