Don Wood to stand down as LHF Chairman
Don Wood CBE is standing down as the Executive Chairman of the London Housing Foundation.
Don has been the LHF Executive Chairman for five years. He has been on the board for fifteen years in all, and will now remain a non-executive member.
He said “The LHF is a fantastic organisation, and I am very proud of the work we have done over the last few years. We have awarded over £½ million in grants each year, sent a number of young managers overseas to learn from other cultures and sponsored over a decade of Andy Ludlow Homelessness Awards. What pleases me most is the increasing number of good grant applications we are receiving. Our job is to fund innovation and risk takers and help small to medium sized organisations through difficult times – I think we do all that very well. I have been particularly proud of the funding that the LHF has given to projects dealing with former offenders, and to health-related projects.”
Simon Dow the Group Chief Executive of The Guinness Partnership will become the new Non-Executive Chairman. Simon commented “The LHF is proud to support some terrific work by homelessness and health agencies primarily in London but now increasingly also abroad. I am very pleased to take over as Chairman from Don and look forward to working with, and learning from, our highly skilled board. Over the last five years Don has both re-shaped and developed our work giving us some great foundations for a future when our work is bound to be as important as ever.”
Simon will be supported by Margaret Malcolm who has taken up the role of Interim Operations Manager.
