LHF Atlas launch shows state of the homelessness sector

The LHF sponsored fifth annual “Atlas of Services for Homeless People in London” has been launched with LHF Chair Simon Dow emphasising the changing homelessness sector that the report describes.

About 40 senior managers, Chief Executives, researchers and others gathered at the NCVO in Kings Cross to hear about the newly published report.

Simon Dow, Chief Executive of Guinness Partnership and Chairman of the LHF introduced the report.  He said: “This year’s Atlas show just how much change there has been in the sector over the last five years; we have lost 36 agencies, floating support services are so concentrated that three agencies almost have a monopoly and we are seeing existing providers expanding to work across a far greater geographical area.  It is useful to reflect on these trends as we plan the next five years.”

Margaret Malcolm is Acting Director at the London Housing Foundation.  She said: “The Atlas provides a fascinating picture of the sector we work in. This year we  have again commissioned two ‘anonymous’  leader articles from a provider and a commissioner giving their unconstrained views on what is happening to services for homeless people in London.“

The Atlas is available on the LHF website on the publications page.  Go to https://
