PRESS RELEASE: London Homelessness Awards Now Open!

This year’s London Homelessness Awards are now OPEN with a prize fund of £60,000!

These prestigious awards are sponsored by London Housing Foundation, Shelter, Crisis, the London Housing Directors, and the Mayor of London and the winning project receives £30,000.

As well as a share of the prize fund, unique trophy and certificate, winners receive a range of business development initiatives, including a specially commissioned video, PR, communications and marketing support, access to the LHF professional development programme and further opportunities to bid for grants.

Last year’s winning project was Housing Justice’s ‘The Night Shelter Lettings Network’ which lists all rental properties in London with rents at Housing Benefit levels. This allows equal access to the latest property information, reducing the risk of people missing out on opportunities. The easy-to-use platform is used by caseworkers and their clients, giving more choice than was possible before. They received a cheque for £30,000 at a ceremony attended by over 120 people from across the sector in London.

Chair of the judging panel Simon Dow said:

“The judges are looking for projects that can change lives. It doesn’t matter if you’ve been going one year or ten, whether your team is employed or voluntary and whether your budget is £10k or £1m. These awards celebrate all the teams across London who provide practical help for those who are either homeless or risk becoming homeless.”

The awards culminate in a high-profile celebration event on 27th November 2025 at St Martin in the Fields, with Baroness Casey of Blackstock speaking and presenting the prizes, and the premiere of the specially commissioned award winners’ films.

To apply for your organisation or service go to www.lhawards.org.uk where you can also find more details about the awards and view videos of previous winners.

The application process is straightforward and streamlined, and shortlisted projects are visited by one of the judging panel to allow then to fully understand the project.  There is also plenty of advice and support from LHF before the final presentations to the panel are made.
