The London Homelessness Foundation (LHF) is delighted to announce the appointment of Pam Orchard as a Trustee.
Pam brings more than two decades of leadership experience across homelessness, youth work, community development and social innovation, and is currently Chief Executive of Connection at St Martin’s, one of London’s leading organisations working with people who are experiencing rough sleeping. Reflecting on her appointment, Pam explained that she had been deliberately waiting for the right trustee role to come along.
“I didn’t want to join the board of an operational charity doing work similar to my day job. I was looking for something that could have a wider influence on the sector.”
Having first worked with LHF on international homelessness projects shortly after moving to London, Pam has maintained a close connection with the Foundation for many years. She describes joining the Board as an exciting opportunity to contribute to an organisation she sees as holding a unique place within London’s homelessness sector.
Pam believes that LHF’s greatest strength lies in its ability to combine modest resources with significant influence.
“LHF is small but mighty.”
She sees particular potential in the Foundation’s focus on leadership, innovation and strategic grant-making. With experience on other grant-giving boards, including the John Laing Charitable Trust, Pam is especially interested in how LHF can identify promising ideas, take calculated risks and help organisations develop proof-of-concept projects that can attract wider investment.
Pam is also passionate about investing in people. She highlighted the importance of the Foundation’s leadership programme and the annual London Homelessness Awards (https://lhawards.org.uk/) in building confidence, capacity and new ideas across the sector.
By bringing together current operational insight with a strong commitment to innovation and leadership, Pam will make a valuable contribution to the next chapter of the London Homelessness Foundation’s work.
