Three projects make it to the top for prestigious 2024 awards
Three projects from across London have been named as winners of the prestigious London Homelessness Awards for 2024. They will share cash prizes totalling £60,000.
The London Homelessness Awards are sponsored by London Housing Foundation, London Housing Directors, The Mayor of London, Crisis, and Shelter.
There were over 30 applications for the awards. After visiting the six shortlisted projects, seeing their presentations, and receiving feedback from service user expert panels at Shelter, and Crisis, the judges decided to award three cash prize, and commended three further projects.
The prize winners are (in alphabetical order):
- Housing Justice – The Night Shelter Lettings Network
- Lambeth Council – Routes to Independence Pathway
- Treasures Foundation – Revealing the Hidden Treasure in Each Woman
Three further projects were particularly commended as making a special contribution to helping combat homelessness in London.
- Thames Reach – CHA and PLACE
- The Passage’s No Night Out Service
- Turning Point – RBKC Rough Sleepers Drug & Alcohol Service
The allocation of the prize money will be revealed at a special event at St Martins in the Fields, on Wednesday 4th December, presented by Baroness Louise Casey.
Simon Dow chaired the judging panel. He said:
“2024 saw an exceptional range of applicants giving us a formidable short list and some very tough choices to make. Each project’s presentation to the judging panel were powerful and a real reminder of just how vibrant the homelessness sector in London continues to be.”
