The London Network of Nurses and Midwives for Homelessness Group is pleased to announce their first online symposium aimed at clinicians and allied workers in the inclusion health sector.
Sponsored by the London Housing Foundation, co-produced with Groundswell, and supported by the NHSE Safeguarding Team this symposium will look at frontline experiences during the COVID-19 crisis, and the lessons we can learn from them.
Chris Torry, the Network Development Manager for the LNNM, said:
2020 has bought huge challenges, and the need for unparalleled adaptation, skill and delivery of care from inclusion health professionals. It is critical that we ask what worked, and what were the challenges that we have had to overcome? And what we can, as a network of inclusion health professionals, take forward into the future to ensure best care for our patients, and better support for ourselves and our colleagues? We need to be able to take the outcomes of these conversations to commissioners and policy makers, to ensure best care for our patients.
An expert panel of speakers will start the session. The panel will be made up of:
- Kate Bowgett (chair) – Director of Advocacy for Groundswell
- Rikke Albert, Nurse Consultant, Tower Hamlets Mental Health Liaison and Psychological Medicine, ELFT
- Dr Debbie Robson, RMN, PhD, Senior Research Fellow, National Addiction Centre, Addictions Department & NIHR ARC South London, Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology & Neuroscience
- Kendra Schneller, Nurse Practitioner, Health Inclusion Team / Queen’s Nurse – Vulnerable Adults and Prevention Services, Guy’s & St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust
- Maxine Radcliffe RN MPH DTN, Grade VII Team Lead, Homeless Healthlink, Dublin South Kildare and West Wicklow
Groundswell will then present the findings of their ongoing research describing how Covid-19 has impacted on people experiencing homelessness.
This will be followed by interactive facilitated discussion groups, where we will aim to fully capture the experiences of the inclusion health frontline during Covid -19.
Finally, the closing address for the symposium will be from Dr Al Story, senior nurse and clinical lead of Find and Treat, and author of the ‘Test, Treat, Cohort, Care’ plan for the homelessness sector that has enabled many lives to be saved.
The London Network of Nurses and Midwives will take forward the learning from the symposium, and will make a case for the support that will be needed to deliver care even more effectively going forward.
This will be a celebration of nursing and frontline health care practitioner excellence, and a chance to get your voice heard.
The symposium takes place online via Zoom on September 30th 14.00-16.30.
