The latest in the series of LHF “In Conversation With…” seminars will be with senior civil servant Penny Hobman

About Penny

Penny is the Director, Homelessness and Rough Sleeping at the Department for Levelling Up, Housing, Communities and Local Government. She leads the team that developed the rough sleeping strategy and is responsible for driving forward the government’s efforts to end rough sleeping. She has extensive experience in senior roles across Whitehall.

The Conversation

Penny will be able to explain the way ideas become policy, and policy becomes practice in government.  She will outline the ways that ministers think and work and so help you understand the best way to influence the direction of government. She will also reflect on her personal challenges of being a leader during Covid and dealing with a rapid turnover of Ministers and Prime Ministers in recent months. This is a rare opportunity to find out more about the inner workings of a major government department from a key influencer and policy maker with extensive experience of the housing and homelessness sector in London and beyond.

Event Details

The event will be hosted by Ian Brady, Executive Chair. It will be a great opportunity to network with course alumni of the LHF/LSBU Leadership Course and other friends and supporters over drinks and canapes after the main seminar.
