Professional Development Programmes

The London Housing Foundation can offer high quality training, mentoring and expert consultancy to help you and your teams develop their skills, competencies and confidence. This support can be designed specifically around your needs, but current opportunities include

Media Training

A one day course to equip trainees with the skills they need to successfully engage with the media on both positive and negative stories. The course is run by working journalists with years of experience in understanding what makes a good story. A recent attendee said “I’d really like to thank you for what I thought was an excellent training day! It was incredibly productive for the training to be so tailored to individual attendees, which is rare and which I felt really made for a great learning experience.”

Presentation Skills

A one day course to help you give professional and engaging presentations that do not rely on lengthy powerpoint slides with pages of notes. By embracing a new way of drafting your presentation and understanding the centrality of the target audience, you will be able to put together and give presentations that deliver the outcomes you and your audiences need.

Crisis Communications

A follow on course to the media training focussing on how we can use media management and strategic communication to help deal with a crisis.  The course will look at key crisis management theories and then run an as live exercise for half the day, with trainees working in groups and the scenario changing every hour.

Identifying Bid Opportunities

Preparing and pitching for new and existing contracts. With pressure to retain and expand contracts, staff in the homelessness sector need to be skilled at identifying, pitching for and then sustaining contracts with funders.  This course is aimed at managers who are responsible for identifying, developing and maintaining business contracts.  The day will equip participants with the skills they need to be successful in this area. We look at identifying bids, preparing a bid, pitching for a bid and maintaining good client relations.

Negotiation and Influencing

Most senior managers have to do this at some point in their working lives, but few ever have the training and theoretical understanding to underpin what they do. This one day course will set out the principles of negotiating and use the work of key thinkers such as Stephen Pinker and Robert Cialdini to ensure that we can utilise the very latest approaches to effective influencing.

Interactive Webinars

LHF offers invite only webinars to graduates of the LSBU course. These showcase senior leaders in the sector talking about their experiences and answering questions. You can read about our most recent event here.
