London Housing Foundation is pleased to support The Afghanistan and Central Asian Association’s Refugee Week festival.

ACAA work with Afghans and Central Asians living away from their homeland, providing them with support, skills, and knowledge to live and prosper in the UK.

They offer a wide range of services including English language classes, employment workshops, a women’s support group, a Saturday school and homework club, youth and family support services, drop-in and telephone advice, volunteer placements, and cultural and social events. In Afghanistan, the association is developing citizens advice centres, offering free, impartial and confidential advice, information, support and legal aid on issues including education, employment and domestic violence.

LHF is providing some funding for this year’s Refugee Week Festival which takes place in Gunnersbury Park on Saturday, 24th and Sunday 25th June. The first day of the combined arts festival will focus on Afghanistan, and the second on Ukraine.

Dr. Nooralhaq Nasimi MBE, the ACAA Founder and Director said

“The festival will include a variety of food stalls, live music, children’s activities, poetry, dance and so much more! This is an unmissable opportunity to learn about the rich Afghan and Ukrainian cultures!”

The Refugee Festival also presents an exciting opportunity for Afghan and Ukrainian businesses and small entrepreneurs to present their goods and services. Please come and support them and book your ticket now to enjoy a day full of diversity and exotic culture with your family on the 24th of June!

LHF Executive Chair Ian Brady said

“LHF have been long time supporters of DePaul International and their work with homeless people in Ukraine. We are pleased to have the opportunity to support those Ukrainians displaced to the UK by the current war and help ACAA in the important work they do. I am sure the two days festival later this month will be a great event and a huge success.”

The Afghanistan and Central Asian Association (ACAA) is a charity offering education, mentoring and integration support to refugees living in the UK and advocates for the rights of women living in Afghanistan. It was founded by Dr Nooralhaq Nasimi, a refugee from Afghanistan, in 1999, after he arrived in England with his family in the back of a refrigerated lorry. Dr Nasimi was awarded the MBE in the 2023 New Year Honours List. For more information go to ACAA – Helping Afghans and Central Asians prosper in the UK.
